About Me

John: I am not a luthier or qualified guitar tech. I'm just a guy who believes you have to know everything about your guitar to appreciate it. And, understand it. Every guitar I've ever owned or played, is different.

I've been playing guitar since my big brother Mike showed me a D chord when I was about 13. My first electric came a year later; a Maya Les Paul copy that I bought for $50.

I stripped it down to a wood finish, varnished it, and put it back together. My first taste of modifying guitars.

My next electric was a brand new 1973 Fender Strat. I've done a few mods to it over the years, and it remains my main guitar to this day. I will take it to my grave.

I've done dozens of mods over the years, without the aid of the internet. This blog is just what I did to a cheap guitar, in case someone can get a tip or two.

It's a "thank you" to the many blogs, videos, and web sites out there I used to help me along the way.
